Party & word games

Who among us?

Playful questions about the group, answered in secret. The reveal shows who thinks alike!

3–8 players10 min
How to play

A playful question about the group; each player secretly votes for the friend who fits best. Votes stay hidden until everyone has voted, then the picks are revealed. Each vote adds a point to its player.

This or that

Two hard choices, one quick pick. Where does everyone really stand?

2–8 players10 min
How to play

Everyone chooses between two options without seeing other answers. Pass the phone. Reveal the choices after everyone answers. The majority earns one point each. A tie gives no points.

Finish the proverb

Finish the saying before the table laughs. Who remembers the most?

2–8 players15 min
How to play

2–8 players on one phone. Five proverbs, one point per correct answer. Pass the phone after answering; answers stay hidden until everyone is done.

Guess the number

A secret question from the host and a hidden number. Guess close and enjoy the bragging rights.

2–8 players15 min
How to play

A host and 2–8 players on one phone. The host privately sets a question and its answer and does not guess. Three rounds; the closest guesses earn 3 points, including ties.

Who said it?

A quick answer in your own hand, then guess who wrote what. The guessing is the fun.

3–8 players15 min
How to play

3–8 players on one phone. Each person writes privately, then matches the other answers to their authors. Choose a face for each answer. Three rounds; one point per correct author. Your own answer is excluded. Similar answers can make it harder.

Word chain

One word after another until the chain snaps. Your memory on trial!

2–8 players10 min
How to play

2–8 players. Start with a word; each player repeats the full sequence and adds a word. You have 20 seconds to recite it aloud. The group then checks and enters the new word. A mistake or timeout eliminates you; last player wins. Human judging, no audio recording.

Speed question

Fifteen seconds per answer. The fastest take the biggest points.

2–8 players10 min
How to play

2–8 players, five starter proverbs. You have 15 seconds per question. Correct answers earn 1–10 points, losing one point every 1.5 seconds. Wrong or missing answers earn zero. Answers reveal when everyone responds or time runs out.

Table games

Tic-tac-toe

The classic three in a row — with friends it hits differently. Steal the line with wit.

2 players5 min
How to play

Two players on one phone. Take turns choosing an empty square. Three in a row, column or diagonal wins. A full board without a winner is a draw. The starting player alternates each round.

Memory

Faces from the group need their twin. Flip smart, flip fast!

2 players10 min
How to play

Two players on one phone. Flip two cards. A match earns a point and another turn; a miss passes the turn. Six pairs, highest score wins.

Ludo

Dice, pawns and one board. Lucky rolls move the whole table.

2–4 players30 min
How to play

2–4 players on one phone. Sahraa rules: six brings a pawn out and grants another roll. Move clockwise and bring all four pawns to the centre with an exact roll. Landing on an opponent returns it to its yard, except on safe stars. Pawns do not block and three sixes have no penalty. Choose a pawn using the buttons below the board.

Dominoes

Numbers meet numbers, with a surprise in every tile. Pass the phone and begin.

2–4 players20 min
How to play

2–4 players; pass the phone and keep hands private. Everyone gets 7 tiles: with 2 or 3 the rest is the pile to draw from; with 4 every tile is dealt and nobody draws. Four can play as partners, 2 v 2 with your partner across. The highest double opens the first hand; after that, whoever took the last hand leads with any tile. Match an open end; with no tile to play, draw, and when the pile is empty, knock. The first hand to empty scores the pips left in the opponents' hands; a blocked hand goes to the lowest count, and a tie scores nothing. The first side to reach the target wins.

Team & timer games

No yes or no

Answer for a full minute without yes or no. Harder — and funnier — than it sounds.

2–8 players10 min
How to play

2–8 players, 60 seconds each. Answer the group without forbidden words. Each second survived earns a point. A claim pauses the timer; the group confirms it or rejects it to resume. Human judging, no audio recording.

Forbidden word

Explain the word without saying it — or its forbidden three. Easy? Try.

4+ players15 min
How to play

Two teams, at least two people each. Two turns per team, 60 seconds per card. Explain the word without saying it or the three words below. Correct guess: one point; timeout, skip or confirmed violation: zero. The other team judges.

Guess the film

A film, a series, no words, all laughs.

4+ players15 min
How to play

Two teams, at least two people each. Two turns per team, 60 seconds per film or series. The other team secretly enters a title and hands the phone to the actor. Memorize and hide it, then mime without speaking. Correct guess: one point; skip or timeout: zero. The group records results.

Cards

Lawwenha

Our colour game: match the colour or number, stack +2s and +4s, and empty your hand first.

2–4 players10 min
How to play

2–4 players, each on their own phone; the computer takes any empty chair. Everyone gets 7 cards. Put down a card that matches the top card’s colour, number or symbol; a wild changes the colour, and a +4 can be played any time. +2s and +4s stack: +2 on +2, +4 on either, and whoever can’t answer draws the lot and loses their turn. Nothing to play? Draw one card: play it if it fits, otherwise pass. Down to your last card, tap “One left!”; forget, get caught before the next player moves, and you draw 2. The first to empty their hand wins the round, and the cards left in the other hands are penalty points: fewest is best. With four, you can play partners, sitting across from each other.

Tarneeb

Tarneeb: four players in two partnerships, a bid before the hand, and a trump named by whoever won it.

4 players30 min
How to play

Four players; whoever sits across from you is your partner. Everyone gets 13 cards. The bidding comes first: say how many tricks your side will take — at least 7 — or pass. Each bid must beat the last, a pass is final, and the bidding goes round until the other three have passed after the last bid. Whoever wins the bid names the trump and leads. Follow the suit that was led if you hold it; if you do not, play anything. The highest card of the led suit takes the trick unless someone trumps. After thirteen tricks, a side that made its bid scores the tricks it took, and one that missed loses the bid. First side to 31 wins.

Trix

Trix: five contracts, four kingdoms, and the winner is whoever loses least.

4 players45 min
How to play

Four players, each for themselves. The cards are dealt first, then the king chooses the contract with their hand in front of them — five to call in their own kingdom, all of them before the crown moves on. The first kingdom is whoever holds the 7 of hearts; then the crown passes to the right. Four contracts cost you: the king of hearts (−75 to whoever takes it), queens (−25 each), diamonds (−10 each) and tricks (−15 each). Those four have no trump, and you follow the led suit when you hold it. In the king and queens contracts you may double the king of hearts or your queens before the first lead: whoever takes a doubled card pays twice, and you get its value. The fifth is Trix: lay a jack, then cards above or below it in the same suit; going out first pays 200, then 150, 100 and 50. Twenty contracts in all, and the highest total wins.
